Hello friends!
Guess who heard that there’s going to be some warm weather this weekend…
THIS GIRL!
It’s sad that I now look forward to anything that is over 35 degrees; but after this winter I’ll pretty much take anything. The sun was out the other day and I’m pretty sure I smiled my entire walk to work like a crazy person.
Simply because the sun was out. Forget that I still had to wear two pairs of gloves and a scarf over my entire face…
Maybe it’s just my body screaming out for Vitamin D. Well, at any rate, the sunshine and possibility of warmer weather got me thinking of fruit and sweet treats that remind me of summer.
Hence this smoothie: what better way to daydream about summer than with banana cream pie for breakfast?! Well, it’s not really pie for breakfast, but as close as you can get without sacrificing your waistline. Summer means swimsuits, which means I should stop eating pie for breakfast leave the pie for dessert.
So today I bring you a breakfast that combines the creamy, decadent nature of banana cream pie with a protein, potassium, and calcium-rich smoothie! It takes less than minutes to make and works as a wonderful on-the-go meal; oh and did I mention it tastes freaking ahmazing?
Seriously: it rivals some milkshakes I’ve had and has just a tiny fraction of the sugar!
…
Okay, so I do have one confession to make about this smoothie. It has fabulous ingredients like Greek Yogurt and honey and rolled oats, but it also has a teeny bit of heavy cream in it.
But just a tiny bit! It’s like a little magical splash of goodness that takes this smoothie from good to ooh la la good.
I’ve definitely never said ooh la la before in my life. I wasn’t even sure I could type it out until just now. I just truly need you to understand how phenomenal this smoothie is, even if it means saying ooh la la three times in the course of three sentences.
So, we understand each other?
You need to go make this smoothie. Right now.
I mean it. Stop reading this.
STOP IT. GO GET YOUR BLENDER AND GET SMOOTHIE-ING.
Well, I guess come back for the recipe, but you better have your blender next to you when you’re reading this sentence.
Just trust me on this one, friends. Not only is this a fabulous breakfast, but it’s bound to become a solution to your sweet cravings.
I’ll be back next week with a recipe for focaccia smothered in cheese and onions, so be sure to check back first thing on Monday!
Happy Baking!
